Membership in the FOP is an exlusive honor for this profession. We are an organization of cops, from the top down. We are not a traditional labor union, so your dues money does not get funneled to AFL-CIO organizations that fight us on making assault on police officers a felony offense. We often stand alone, on behalf of issues that are critical to the profession. While we will try and work with other organizations on important legislation, we do not back down when it comes to protecting our chosen profession. We are not beholden to any political party, or outside organization.
The honor and dedication of being a cop is enhanced when you belong to the FOP.
From our Constitution & By Laws about who may join:
Section 1. No person shall be admitted to membership in a subordinate lodge except a regularly appointed or elected, full-time employed, law enforcement officer of the United States, the State of Utah or a political subdivision thereof, to perform law enforcement work in the State of Utah. No person shall be denied membership on account of race, religion, color, creed, sex, or national origin. Retired police officers may also join at a reduced dues rate.
To apply to join one of our local lodges, click HERE or on the MEMBERSHIP LINK on the left side of this page. Complete the membership application, including selecting if you want legal coverage, and the lodge you wish to join. If there is a lodge serving your jurisdiction, you MUST join that lodge. Exceptions must be approved by the Utah State Board as well as the presidents of both lodges affected. Once your application is approved by the State Lodge and the Grand Lodge, your membership will be active.
